How it works isn't really the important thing. What's important is that it does work. Why? Because it provides players with instant visual feedback on why their bank shots go in - or don't go in. And as players adjust to this feedback, they quickly develop a feel for the proper bank location and create that very important 'muscle memory' for game play. Don't just take our word for it. Here are a few of the comments from experienced coaches who have tried the system:

But for those who are more curious, or maybe want to brush up on their basic physics, here is some more background on the operating principles of this revolutionary optical training and feedback system. The HoopLogic Professional Series works because of two basic principles:

1) The Law of Reflection: The angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. This simple principle means that the player can find the perfect horizontal target simply by imagining a target point behind the backboard. That target point is derived by taking the distance from the center of the rim to the backboard and projecting that back behind the board, then subtracting the diameter of the basketball. It works out to be about six inches behind the front plane of the backboard (We'll show you the math if you ask!).

2) The flight of any basketball follows a parabolic arc through the air. By intersecting that arc through the backboard, assuming an optimal vertical angle of entry into the basket (40 to 50 degrees), we can display the 'perfect' target on the plane of the backboard from each location on the floor
